Information needed before acceptance
Provide the UN number, proper shipping name, radionuclide and activity, package type and category, and transport index where applicable. Include the relevant package or shipment documentation, collection and delivery contacts and handling arrangements.
Scope must be confirmed
Do not assume that all radioactive materials, package types or activity levels can be accepted. Explain whether the load involves an excepted package, another package type, a sealed source or waste. The team must confirm the specific scope before booking.
Equipment is not automatically radioactive cargo
An electrically generated X-ray machine is not automatically Class 7 cargo. Classification depends on the actual contents. Ask the consignor or its competent adviser for the correct transport classification instead of relying on a generic equipment description.
